The
Portco Story
Portco's story began with a simple business philosophy: Provide
quality product. Deliver it to the customer on time. Stay
flexible and willing to try new approaches to improve customer
profitability and cash flow.
Portco Packaging opened it's doors in 1929. And what an amazing
journey it's been. We started with one customer, Crown Zellerbach:
We twisted paper handle cord for
the carryout grocery bag of the day. As Western agriculture and
manufacturing grew,
we grew, too. Over the years, we have produced everything from
Hula-Hoops to swimming pool covers. We extruded and printed
plastic pipe and polyethylene film. But our hearts always remained
where the business began, in flexible packaging.
Today we've returned to our roots. In our two manufacturing
plants strategically located in Vancouver, WA and Toppenish, WA, we've brought together
an extremely
rare combination of talent and machines. We now have a range of
capabilities that
few in our industry can match. In Toppenish our multiwall bag
machines produce
all the standard sizes, plus the largest bags in the industry. In
Vancouver our
wide web printing
presses allow us to print on a wide variety of film and paper
substrates, from light gauge film and tissue to heavy paperboard.
In recent years, we have committed significant new resources to help
our customers develop sustainable packages for their products. As
part of our ongoing process improvement we are investing in ways to make
our own manufacturing plants and processes more sustainable, as well.
In 2007, in response to customer demands, Portco has added
solventless laminations to our product line. Our new state of the
art laminator, along with our high-end film printing capabilities,
allows us to meet the needs of a large range of new customers and
markets.
We proudly serve such diverse industries as Food Processing, Dairy,
Fresh Potato, Seed and Feed, Sugar, Roofing, Building Products and Nursery.
Portco Packaging has been in my family since 1934. Our founder
and my father, Howard Wall, promised that his company would always,
"Do what we say." Today, we adhere to his original
values. We continue to work hard to provide sustainable quality product, on
time. We are committed to staying flexible. And we embrace
new technologies and new ideas in an effort to better serve our customers.
Let us know what we can do to serve you.
